Hand knit chunky wool beanie artwork

Hands on with the paper

Made the Old Fashioned Way

We exist (among other reasons) to honor old fashioned handcraft — so it was a given when we ventured into this art-adventure, that we would have it made with pen and paper — the old fashioned way.

The artwork is:

  • Sketched with pencil
  • Penned by hand
  • Digitally colored (but with the plain ink version available for sale as well)
  • (Comes without a frame)
  • Printed on high quality 250 gram water color style paper

  • A3 Size

    (11.7 x 16.5 inches)

  • Hand penciled and inked — digitally colored

On the wild waves outside the Norwegian West Coast, the Navigator locks eyes on the fog-wreathed shape of distant land. He grabs the helm and holds her steady, thinking about his family waiting for him at home.

Sketched and inked by hand, the artwork was made with its roots deeply embedded in old fashioned hand craft.

And as a nod and a handshake to the comics of my childhood, it is richly colored, digitally, by the elusive artist "K".

So who are we really?

Let me introduce us

We are originally a hand-knit beanie company — thus the love for all things handmade and old fashioned.

This is our first artwork, made in collaboration with the Artist "K" — a master at making the paper speak by crisp, sharp pen lines.

You have probably noticed that the Navigator of the North Sea wears a beanie. That is no coincidence. He wears one of our 100% sheep wool models, the Westcoaster.

We've infused as much of our lore and history into this artwork as possible. It is after all Red Hat Factory's first dive into prints.

This is our first print, but. . .

It's not our first time showing you art. We've sold over 3000 hand knit beanies, and have gathered a lot of good will and trust on the way.
