The M39 Wadmal Uniform
The M39 Wadmal Uniform was used by Sweden during WWII. Many uniforms remain but they grow rarer and more expensive by the year.
We've faced a lot of criticism in our choice to cut these up. And while we agree to a certain point, and would never create these on a large scale, we do stand by our point that we are giving them new life in their new shape. Our intention is to honor the history, and let it live on in the caps.
Re-forged
Re-purposing old material into new items is a phoenix-esque idea in itself — but even more so when it’s refashioning a wartime uniform into a piece of peacetime apparel.
There is, in my opinion no better way to honor the soldiers of our past than to make the most out of peace while we have it. Beside being well crafted caps, with history, they are also a symbol of the soldiers' sacrifice, carried on in everyday life — in peace.(This picture also contains some of our Norwegian Army caps.)
About Handcrafted Swedish WWII Wool Caps
The caps are handcrafted from a WWII Swedish military uniform. The material is wadmal — which is felted wool, using a method that goes all the way back to the Viking age, and has been common in the Nordics since then.
We also dabble in other areas of handcraft, usually in collaboration with artists, such as our handcrafted caps and hand inked artwork.
